Santa Barbara Shellfish Company
After watching Anthony Bourdain all Sunday morning eat fresh seafood in Ecuador, I too yearned for crab, clam chowder, cold beer and the sea. We took the Santa Barbara shuttle to the wharf – only a quarter each to ride. After enjoying the short scenic route along the way, we had reached our destination. One could easily spend the entire day on the wharf! I love the smell of the ocean, the scent of tar, and the sounds of foot steps walking about on the wooden planks; much like Dorothy’s yellow brick road in the Wizard of Oz, only our road leads to fresh crab and clam chowder. Santa Barbara Shellfish Company is the best fresh crab in town!
We ordered the local Rock crab special and some clam chowder with ice cold beer to wash it down. The Santa Barbara Shellfish Company is a small restaurant. If you are lucky enough to spy an open table on the wharf out of the few available, SNAG IT!! Everything is set up like a bar setting inside. So, it is only expected that your lemon squeezes and crab cracks be felt by the company around you. Nothing really distracts the patrons from the bar or food, so we enjoyed ourselves and took in the view.
