Avila Valley Wine Getaway at Sycamore Springs Mineral Resort

Avila Valley Wine Getaway at Sycamore Springs Mineral Resort

This past weekend we decided to drive up the coast. It has been a tiring start to the New Year and this little trip was just what the doctor ordered! We decided to drive to Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort. We love the forest setting near Avila beach. There are hot springs to soak in, yoga classes at the resort, and two of our favorite wineries near by.

Our first stop is always to Woodstone Market Place. In the morning, Woodstone Market Place is walking distance for breakfast and much needed coffee. This market carries gourmet cheeses, wines, crackers, and serves a delicious breakfast and lunch. Our second and third stops are to the wineries.

Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards is a magical experience! Wild peacocks roam the grounds while you are outside tasting. They like to be fed by the patrons but, can be scared off by dogs and children. So, as you can see we only got one picture of a peacock because that little hell raiser Pomeranian was fierce!
Our favorite wines at Kelsey are their award winning apple wines, Red Delicious and Golden Delicious. We have been to Kelsey three times and all three times they were sold out of their Red Delicious wine. It makes me want to have it even more now!! ha ha…So we decided on the Golden Delicious wine instead. It is a 50/50 blend of See Canyon apples and Chardonnay grapes.

Salisbury Vineyards was our next and last stop. It was once an old school house that is now a wine tasting room and art gallery. One of the owners, Kevin Rucks, is a pro-skater from back in the day skating with the likes of Tony Hawks and gracing the covers of Thrasher magazine. There is a ton of skate memorabilia around to look at while tasting not to mention the art gallery! We decided on the Red Tail wine.

It was such a nice weekend. If you are ever in the San Luis Obispo area you should check it out! Happy Monday! I am already dreaming of the weekend! xo

  1. copying this exact trip soon! love your blog. xoxo, Hayley

  2. Winetasting PLUS peacocks, now that is my kind of afternoon haha. Glad you had a full long weekend for once, you guys deserve it!

    • Thanks Sarah! You and Ry would LOVE.

  3. I actually went to that area (more like Santa Ynez) to do some wine-tasting in the early parts of January ^_^ We had planned to go to San Louis Obispo to see the Hearst Castle, and might end up doing that soon, and if that’s the case we might just have to do some more wine tasting! Glad you had a nice weekend ^^
